If you are running your YouTube Channel or having digital identities, it is important to improtect your content/ digital assets from getting copied. It takes few hours to dozens or even hundreds of hours to produce something good and is copied in matter of minutes by others. Moreover, it might so happen that your original content would receive less views or engagement than the one who copies it -- everyone must have seen this happening with a lot of posts on LinkedIn, Twitter and that could be demotivating for original creators.
It is hard to embed a copyright message on text but can easily be done on images and videos. Videos being high cost media type - you just can't afford to miss putting a watermark on the video which would atleast make it easier for you to claim copyrights on the video and further pursue redressal regarding copyright infringement.
YouTube provides a section where you can check details of all videos that contains the copied section of your videos, what percentage of the content is copied, total no. of views and provides an interface to file report and take action against the copyright infringer. Below is the screenshot of the section that provides all such details.
